~Cyclone 17~
Lampwork Glass Bead ![]()
DETAILS This is part of a series of beads inspired by the all too frequent tornadoes in the USA, and the destructive cyclone in Myanmar (Burma). The technique used is to build up spirals of color on the interior of the bead, and then encase in a streaky/stormy transparent glass. Most of these have then been flattened or shaped with paddles, to further bring out the internal spiraling. As these do contain a lot of transparent glass, their appearance does change depending on their background. I have photographed these with a strong back lighting to show the transparency, both with and with out a flash. When pictured with a coin for size, these have been taken without a flash, in normal daylight. This bead has a core using semi-transparent black glass, around which is a swirl of transparent ruby glass. It was then encased in a streaky transparent clear, and shaped with paddles into a 4-sided rectangle. Bead Width (side to side): c. 14 mm ( 9/16 inch) Bead Height (hole to hole): c. 31.5 mm (1 1/4 inch) Hole Size: c. 2 mm. (3/32 mandrel used) Price: $ 4.00 Check out my other items for sale.
