Lampwork Glass Bead

DETAILS
This flat focal bead is made with a base of transparent pale green and yellow glasses. Into this a design of swirled ivory and dark orange has been encased. After the bead was formed into its flat shape with paddles, a surface decoration was added using a highly reactive stringer, which was then exposed to an oxygen starved flame to give this decoration a textured, metallic finish.

Bead Width (side to side): c. 27 mm (1 1/16 inch)
Bead Height (hole to hole): c. 27 mm (1 1/16 inch)
Bead Thickness: c. 7.5 mm. (5/16 inch)
Hole Size: c. 2 mm. (3/32 mandrel used)
