Lampwork Glass Bead

DETAILS
This is a hollow bead, formed with clear and transparent dark cobalt blue glass. The surface was then decorated with opaque white, copper green and turquoise. It was then flashed in an oxygen starved flame to cause reduction reactions in the surface colors, where much of the copper turns a brick red. The last pictures show it held up in bright sunlight, where you can see that the underlying glass is transparent. When worn gainst skin or clothing, it can appear to have almost a black background.

Height: 21 mm (7/8 inch)
Hole Size: c. 2 mm. (3/32 mandrel used)
