Lampwork Glass Bead

DETAILS
This bicone shaped bead is made on a base of medium green transparent glass. Over this base has been added very fine twisted copper wire. It was then encased in clear glass to keep the copper from burning completely off. It was then shaped with a paddle into its final shape.

The copper used came from a phone I was throwing out. Of course I had to take it apart to see what was on the inside. A tiny metal transformer or some small part contained yards of this fine copper wire, all coiled and twisted.

Bead Width (side to side): c.16 mm (5/8 inch)
Bead Height (hole to hole): c. 41 mm (1 5/8 inch)
Hole Size: c. 2 mm. (3/32 mandrel used)
