Bubble Stars by Flaming Fool

This is a fun and bright set of beads. They are made with a core of transparent glass. Around this core, each bead has a band of dots, where two opaque colors were applied and melted in layers. These were then plunged deeply, to the core of the bead, and covered in transparent glass, capturing a small air bubble in each space. then an additional lens of transparent glass was applied, giving the bead a star shape.

This additional lense magnified the underlying colors, and depending on the angle of view, either one of the underlying opaque colors will be more dominant. This makes the beads extremely playful and colorful. Also the plunging effect makes them very viewable on the sides of the beads, if used as dangles in a piece of jewelry.

All of the beads are roughly the same size, so measurements are an average. Bead Width (side to side): c. 16-17 mm (3/4 inch)
Bead Height (hole to hole): c. 12-13 mm (1/2 inch)
Hole Size: c. 2 mm. (3/32 mandrel used)
