DETAILS
This is a heart shaped focal bead, formed primarily using gravity. The hole runs horizontally through the lobes of the heart.

The core of this bead is a semi-transpartent fuchsia pink opalinio glass. It has been decorated with spots of white glass, silvered ivory made using silver leaf and ivory glass, and streaks of transparent cobalt blue. The silvered ivory produces wonderful veinging effect where applied over the white.

The bead was then heavily encased in transparent glass, with stripes of intense black glass applied. It was then heated until it began to droop, and shaped with paddles into a heart form. This heating, when you are lucky, causes the intense black glass to break up into veining, and this happened wonderfully in the tip of this heart.

Bead Height : c. 28 mm ( 1 1/8 inch)
Bead Thickness at lobes: c. 12.5 mm. ( 1/2 inch)
Hole Size: c. 2 mm. (3/32 mandrel used)
